President

Sharon Sikes, PMP, Evergreen Project Management Solutions

I have 30 years project management experience in a variety of industries. I also have a strong PMI background and can contribute much to the Chapter having held several positions working with PMI Headquarters, as a Chapter Officer, and a Specific Interest Group Officer. Here is my PMI experience:

I feel that I can help guide the Chapter Board of Directors and our members to the next levels of project management offerings for both the local communities and our growing membership.

I am very passionate about PMI and have past experience in leading a young PMI Chapter and the Chapter volunteers in tripling its membership, implementing successful PMP Prep classes; successfully implementing a 2-day professional development mini-symposium; mentoring new break away Chapters, Chapter mentoring programs for new project managers, enhanced involvement with a variety of community businesses and partnering with Illinois State in the development of their project management program. "Let us go forward and do really great things".

Vice President

Mint Vu, Department of Revenue

I have always been interested in improved project management practices in the State. I can be of influence as Vice President and make a difference in promoting sound project practices as well as raise awareness in this area in both State and outside State arenas. I see this as an opportunity to serve the local professional community. By being a visible PM leader will hopefully encourage others to commit to PM excellence. I will be completing the University of Washington Project Management Certification course in June 2006.

In addition to project management, I have skills in business analysis, testing, test management, test automation, database management, business intelligence services, implementing a new business analysis or testing group. I successfully implemented both an analysis and testing team for one organization in one year overcoming resistance with perseverance and driven by goal.

Vice President of Administration

Joan Mackey, Office of Financial Management

I am excited to have been part of this local chapter serving on the Board for the past 15 months. As Vice President of Administration, I will continue bring strong facilitation, negotiation and strategic thinking skills to assist the Chapter's activities and plans. I was in the Project Management Office for the Attorney General's Office for five years, recently joining the Office of Financial Management in the Risk Management Division. My experience with both of these organizations has allowed me to work on many exciting IT projects. I also participated in the development of the Project Management Framework web site hosted on the Department of Information Services web site, which has received positive feedback and support. From a personal standpoint, I have enjoyed working with this Board and look to continue to gain more invaluable experience working with the project management professionals associated with PMI.

Vice President of Finance

Brenda Rix, PMP, Hewlett-Packard

I look forward to continue working on the PMI Olympia Chapter board in the capacity that I have been serving since November 2005 as the appointed Vice President of Finance. I enjoy the people element of the position and would like to continue contributing to the success of the Olympia Chapter. I am in the IT Industry working for Hewlett-Packard. I support multiple projects in the Western United States that implement various infrastructure, security, and application services. I manage projects through all phases of the PMBOK methodology, i.e., Opportunity/Business development thru Project Closure. I have additional skills and background in accounting, project and people management.

Vice President of Marketing

Vicki Rummig, PMP, Office of Financial Management

I believe in the philosophy, teachings, and best practices of the PMI and I want to continue help promote PMI. I see this as the best opportunity to help others realize the benefits and help the local project management community learn from each other and the 30 years of best practices of the PMI. I further enjoy opportunities to expand my skills with new endeavors as well as meet and work with other project management professionals.

I have served as the Vice President of Marketing since October 2005. In that time I have utilized my information technology tools experience to update our website, establish an email list service, and compile and distribute a monthly newsletter. I have had such experience prior to this position with organizations such as the Tacoma Photographic Society and Volunteer Search Network, as well as in my current paid position of BASS Product Manager.

It is my goal to utilize my technical experience and expertise to help promote the PMI and the best practices they represent.

Vice President of Professional Development

Tina Edwards, PMP Associates

I believe in the PMI Olympia Chapter's philosophy regarding sharing information and furthering project management knowledge and processes. I am currently serving in the capacity as the Vice President of Professional Development and would like to continue with the role. As the Vice President of Professional Development I believe the Olympia Chapter of PMI can be a valuable local resource to project managers.

I am skilled in team collaboration and have a high degree professionalism and energy. I sometimes feel the role of Vice President of Professional Development is sort of "self serving" as I would like to see excellent project management programs in our local area that are of high quality and affordable.

Vice President of Programs

Pam Rupert, Department of Personnel

I currently serve on the IPMA Forum Planning Committee and understand that the success of many organizations is dependent on the human resources that volunteer their time. I manage projects that are non IT related. All of these projects are related to the development of training programs. Currently I am involved in the following: HR Program, Leadership Program, HRMS Release 2 Training Program, and Workforce/Succession Planning. I am more than willing to volunteer my time and services to the cause of Project Management. My strongest skills are analytical and organizational. I am a good team player and willing to carry my fair share.

Vice President of Membership

Carol Baque, Sierra Systems

The Olympia chapter provides an important vehicle for the area's managers to share and grow their project management skills. Its influence is already being felt in the community by providing resources to its members and raising project management standards in the area. I feel it's important to my community as well as current Chapter members to continue to expand the membership and the role of the Chapter.

I would bring broad experience managing projects across all branches of State government, especially from a private consulting company perspective. I have a strong interest in the human relationship aspects of project management and feel my best projects have been a direct result of teams that developed a synergy through trust and commitment. I have strong communication skills, both verbal and written and would welcome the chance to use them to contribute to the Chapter's growth. I would also bring a strong commitment to the Olympia community because I have loved living here for 30 years.

Vice President of Sponsorship

Glenn Briskin, PMP, Briskin Consulting

As a current board member, I've helped lay the ground work to improve our relationships with sponsors, state agency executive management and potential partner organizations like the IPMA. I would like to pursue some ideas I have to allow us to expand sponsorship by employers and other organizations. I will bring experience with being PMI Olympia Chapter President, business management, advocacy and speaking about project management to the Vice President of Sponsorship position.

Vice President of Operations

Nancy Johns, PMP, The Evergreen State College

I am proud to be one of the founding team for the PMI Olympia Chapter. I have been fulfilling the job responsibilities for the Operations board member since the chapter began. I also served as Treasurer until November of 2005 when the duties were split. I look forward to continuing to assist with the growth and maturity of the Olympia Chapter.

Previous to the Olympia Chapter I served as Communications VP for the Puget Sound Chapter of PMI for two years, as well as being on chapter committees for POTY and special events. I have been a member of PMI since 1994, the same year I earned my PMP certification. I have just this month earned my re-certification through 2007. My chosen career, as a Facility Director and Project Manager in the construction field, blend well with the requirements for the Meeting/Events board position responsibilities of meeting location selection, facility set-up and arrangements and detailed coordination of events.

If elected I intend to continue to pursue new venues for our monthly meetings, assist the board with planning annual or quarterly special events and most importantly make it affordable and convenient for all PMI Olympia chapter members and guests to attend all events. I am currently employed at The Evergreen State College. I have and will continue to look for ways that the College and the Chapter can compliment each other's goals for training and professional development in the field of Project Management.

Director at Large

Mary Jelvik, PMP, Department of Agriculture

I would like to become a member of the PMI Olympia Chapter Board of Directors in order to support the new Chapter with my project and business management skills and experience. I enjoy being part of a team and have observed the Chapter Board working hard to support the membership. I would like to be part of that effort. In addition, I come with a rich background of experiences, both professional and personal that can add to the Board's character.

Since obtaining my PMP, I have spent many hours coaching and assisting new project managers in using project management methods. I helped develop and disseminate a project management training program which has been very exciting to watch students use and learn. I also specialize in negotiation and mediation and would like to learn more by applying those tools.
