PMI Olympia Chapter Sponsorship Guidelines (Updated for 2007)
May 5, 2007
Purpose:
The Olympia Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI Olympia) seeks sponsors to:
- Help fund the meetings
- Support Professional Development and Educational opportunities for the local project management community
- Promote awareness of project management products or services provided by local vendors
- Encourage employers of project management to support their participation in PMI, certification programs, and the Olympia Chapter.
Guidelines stated below will help ensure that the sponsors' expectations and benefits from sponsorship are clear and fair.
Guidelines:
Four sponsorship opportunities are available:
- Sustaining Sponsorship - Contributes at least $200 per program year for general support
- A sustaining sponsor receives general recognition for their support (see recognition below).
- Chapter Event Sponsorship - Contributes at least $300 to support a chapter meeting or professional development event
- An event sponsor receives general recognition for their support, recognition on event announcements, and is able to address the attendees at the event that they sponsor.
- Chapter Gold Sponsorship - Contributes at least $1,000 to support the chapter, whether for an event or for general sponsorship. If for an event, Gold Sponsors will receive priority attention and recognition.
- Employer Sponsorship - Employers who demonstrate a consistent policy of supporting their project management employees' cost of participation (yearly PMI and chapter membership, PMP certification costs (at least partial contribution), and meeting attendance) can be nominated by their employees who are chapter members to receive this sponsorship recognition.
All Sponsors are recognized for their support. Each year, the VPs of sponsorship, marketing, professional development, and the President will convene to review sponsorship recognition and refresh the program:
- Sponsors will be recognized on the chapter web site including logo, contact information, brief description of services, and announcements of upcoming educational events.
- Sponsors will be recognized during each chapter meeting in a slide show.
- Will be welcomed as a sponsor via an e-mailing to all on our mailing list
- Sponsors will receive a plaque for their place of business recognizing their sponsorship for the program year.
- Sponsors will receive a letter from PMI Olympia recognizing their contribution.
A sponsor's recognition as a sponsor will last 12 months from the date of their contribution. Employer sponsors will remain sponsors so long as employees of that organization who are chapter members continue to affirm that their employer supports their participation financially.
Event Sponsors will have additional recognition opportunities including:
- Will be recognized on all announcements via email, flyers, and the web site as a sponsor for that event.
- Will be able to provide handouts at the sponsored event.
- May hold a drawing for a prize(s) less than $50 in value each. (note that State Employees are not allowed to use state business cards for such drawings, so the sponsors should provide an alternate means to do the drawing)
- May sell products (books, CDs, software) at the event.
- May speak for 5 minutes to introduce the attendees to their products and services at the event
Employer Sponsors are recognized for their support to their employees' participation in PMI, not for direct financial contribution to PMI Olympia. PMI Olympia will communicate with chapter members and employers in the chapter's geographic boundary to inform them of this program which includes:
- An executive briefing which introduces PMI Olympia, PMI benefits to employers and employees, and the PMI Olympia Employer Sponsorship/Recognition program.
- Confirmation for employers of employee attendance and current membership to facilitate reimbursement.
These guidelines have been approved by the PMI Olympia Board of Directors. Other types of sponsorship may be pursued in the future or may be proposed by potential sponsors for consideration of the Board of Directors.
